Senior Events at the Irish American heritage Center
The Golden Diners Program at the Heritage Center
In conjunction with the city of Chicago, the Irish American Heritage Center is running a Golden Diners senior lunch program. The program offers a hot nutritious lunch to people age 60 or over. There is a suggested donation of $1.50 for each lunch but nobody will be refused services for being unable to contribute. Those who have carers or home aids are welcome to bring them along and there will be a charge of $2.90 for their guest. Lunches are served to seniors Tuesday thru Saturday between 12.30pm and 2pm. Our senior events are timed to take place immediately prior to or just after lunch. The Program launched on Tuesday, 1st February 2011.
Senior Events at the Heritage Center
Chicago Irish Immigrant Support has been successfully running senior groups at the Irish American heritage Center for 3 years. We have recently expanded the number of senior activities that we provide at IAHC and now we hold two seniors’ events each week at this location. The Tara Club is the new name for our original twice monthly senior groups and we continue to meet every second Thursday between 10am and noon. These groups offer an opportunity for socializing with old and new friends while also offering a varied program of expert guest speakers on educational, cultural, and general interest topics. In addition to the Tara Club meetings we also host a wide range of activities. With so much on offer there is bound to be an event to interest you.
